What kind of a question is that? Well, let me ask you, the last time you misplaced your keys did you say something like, “I know they were here last night. Who took my keys?” and then you find them in your other pants.  Until they were located, you really believed that they were on the kitchen counter. Now that is ‘belief’.  “I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow”… (not often said in California these days) is a statement of wishes not supported by belief.

So, why am I saying all this? My passion is what has been called the Law of Attraction and the main component of success revolves around being able to feel belief at a gut level on command; a real knowing as I said above.  There are three parts to the exercise invoking the Law of Attraction (and I will go further into the Law of Attraction and other natural Laws in future blogs.):

  1. Ask for what you want.

  2. Leave the ‘how’ up to the Universe

  3. Go off about your day knowing that your desire has been fulfilled

It’s that last step that seems to trip everyone up. Go off about your day just KNOWING you have been heard and the cake is being baked. If you ask and then HOPE things will work out the way you want, they may or they may not.  It is my experience and that of several people I know, that the key to success seems to be in really believing that the genie heard you. So how do you be assured that you know whether you are hoping or believing?

More than a couple years ago I learned a good lesson from one of my many mentors (for whom I am very grateful). he told me that if I wanted to learn how to believe, then I should go to a crowded shopping mall and look for the “ideal” parking place. As you drive into the parking facility,  repeat to yourself, “My perfect parking place is waiting for me, right here, right now”. It will seem so silly the first few times you do it, but what have you invested in the exercise? Nothing.  After a short period of time you will discover a spot that was just abandoned near the main entrance.  Hmmmmm?  Nah!  Just a coincidence. Then what do you say when this starts happening more frequently? You start to BELIEVE that maybe this woo-woo stuff really works.  Then one day, you cannot find a place for love nor money. OMG, the Universe has abandoned you.  The day that happens and you say, “I KNOW IT IS HERE. I AM JUST NOT SEEING IT.”, congratulations,  you have finally learned what it feels like to believe on command. You will know inside, the difference between hoping and believing.

Why am I going into all this about believing? Because it is how the Universe works… at least in my world. And I guess I am not alone.  I will leave you with a passage from the New Testament of the Bible: Mark 11: 23 – “Truly I say to you, whoever should say to this mountain, be moved and fall into the sea , and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will be done, it will be done to him…  24. Therefore I say to you, anything you pray for and ask, believe that you will receive it, and it will be done for you.”  Hmmm. I guess the Law of Attraction has been around a while.  So go forth unto your local parking lot and strengthen your belief muscle…. and while you are at it,  have a fabulicious day!

Peace

PS: By the way, that “ideal” parking place you didn’t see?… It was about 100 yards from the mall entrance… the space where someone had inadvertently dropped a winning lottery ticket worth $1000.  Oops!
